The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation on Friday, June 7, 2019 embarked on a fire safety awareness campaign at the Takoradi Market Circle.
The one day sensitization workshop organized by the GNPC Foundation in conjunction with the Ghana Fire Service, the Power Distributions Supply, the Energy Commission and the National Disaster Management Organization, was to educate traders at the Takoradi Market Circle to be aware of the safety and preventive measures in making fire outbreaks, a thing of the past.
Speaking at the workshop, the Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation, Dr. Dominic Eduah reiterated the Foundation’s commitment in supporting deprived communities across the country in alleviating many social challenges.
“The GNPC Foundation is committed to doing its part in supporting communities and alleviating our many social challenge. The GNPC believes in unity of purpose and also of effort and recognizes its part in complimenting efforts of gov’t and gov’t agencies in contributing to solving Ghana’s problems”, he said.
Dr. Eduah, however advised the traders to endeavor to care a little more for and about the surroundings to avoid putting their lives in danger.
“The watch word is personal responsibility and personal safety and we all must endeavor to care a little more for and about our surroundings. We should be self aware so we don’t endanger our lives.”
The Foundation in controlling fire outbreaks, donated nineteen new fire extinguishers to the leadership of the market and refilled eleven old fire extinguishers at the market as well.
