Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr. Anthony K.K Sam has indicated that, Takoradi based popular food joint, KFC would be pulled down to pave way for the construction of the Takoradi Interchange.
According to the MCE, the food joint alongside the Airport Total Filling Station located near the Kwame Nkrumah roundabout and also houses KFC would be demolished to pave way for the construction of the sino-hydro multipurpose Takoradi interchange.
“Per the designs and drawings of the project; the Total Filling station and KFC will be affected by the Sino Hydro interchange construction,” he revealed on Takoradi based Empire FM’s flagship programme ‘Western Today’.
In recent times there has been growing concerns over how the Total Filling Station has been turned into an illegal commercial transport bay for buses, taxis and trotros.
In response to this, the MCE indicated that, the assembly has issued a two weeks ultimatum to the managers of the Airport Total Filling Station to stop recalcitrant commercial drivers from using the filling station as a loading bay or risk being closed down.
“We’ve written to the managers of the filling station, if such bad practices are taking place and as owners of the station what are you doing about it? We asked the Takoradi sub – Metro Director, Drank Yeboah to initially notify the station (Total) on the the illegality of the practise. We have given them two weeks to act on it else by the end of May we will close down the station”, he added.
It can be recalled that a similar situation persisted at the Goil Filling Station popularly known as Edzii for over a decade till when K. K.Sam assumed office 2years ago as MCE and ensured the practsise was curbed by heaping sand at the site of their operations as well as using a joint military/police metro guard taskforce to ensure sanity was restored at Edzii.
