The Western regional branch of the Table Tennis Association on Friday, March 15, 2019 held a successful clinic for basic school students in Takoradi.
Over 300 students from 5 selected schools within the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis took part in the competition which was staged at the premises of Bethel Methodist Basic School in Takoradi.
The participants were taken through the basics of table tennis and encouraged to continue practising to become better players with enough skills in the near future. This forms part of GTTA aim of spreading the game nationwide.
Speaking after the competition, the Metro PE Coordinator, Mr. Victor Farmeh, in his speech, thanked the various participants for their overwhelming support towards table tennis and urged them to instill in them, the table tennis spirit.
He however disclosed that equipment will be provided to the various schools to train the students in the region to become world champions in the near future.
“On behalf of the Western regional Table Tennis Association, we thank the various participating schools for their overwhelming support”, he said.
” We have decided to support the schools in the Western region with enough equipment that will help in training the students to become future champions and I confidently believe it will surely come to pass.
” This exercise is the maiden edition and I know with enough practices, most of you all will become professionals in the third edition which will be hosted in one of the schools here in Takoradi.
The participants after the competition, were given racket and a ball each to continue practising at their various homes.
