Takoradi Technical University’s Raymond French has entered Ghana’s Hall of 45secs in 400m, joining the same stage with former national sprinter and record holder Ibrahim Hassan. No one had gone near 1996 Ghana record until the TTU chap made history in the just ended CAA Region II Seniors Athletics Championships.
Raymond French is a student at Takoradi Technical University, studying Higher National Diploma in Information Communication Technology.
Ray came into the event as the red-hot favourite, having done 45sec dead, in an unofficial contest at the Esipong Stadium in Takoradi where he trains.

Ray shot up from a bullet start when the gun went. His start was smooth and fluid, and by midway around the curve, he had made up the stagger on the four men outside him, blazing the end of the curve with an explosive pace, finishing off a Gold Medal with 45.72sec. His Ghanaian compatriot Solomon Diafo came second with 45.85sec.
