Hasaacas Ladies FC will receive a Meritorious Honour in the Maiden Annual Takoradi Technical University’s Sports Awards, set to take place on 5th August 2023.
For their remarkable accomplishment of winning the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League, Medeama Sporting Club will also be honored as the Sports Achievers of the Year as part of Sports awards of the University, Chairman of the Sports Committee of the University, Mr. Joseph Danso disclosed to kyfilla.com, after their meeting on Friday June 23, 2023.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Eric Bruce Amartey Jnr (Dean of Students’ Affairs), Mr. Ebenezer Akwonu Mensah (University Sports Coach), Mr. Joseph Mensah Oti-Asirifi (Secretary), Mr. Michael Asare Appiah (Member), and three other students-reps on the Committee.

Mr. Danso said, “the Maiden Annual Takoradi Technical University’s Sports Awards forms part of the broader vision of the Vice Chancellor in meeting the objectives of the Strategic Plan of the University”. “The VC {Vice Chancellor, Rev. Prof John Frank Eshun} sees sports as a relevant tool for blazing a new trail in contemporary academic growth through social connection and community engagement, and relevant feedbacks”, The Chairman told kyfilla.com.
Since the inception of the Ghana Women’s Premier League in 2012, Hasaacas Ladies F.C. has established themselves as a formidable force in women’s football in Ghana, contributing to the projection of the Western Region, and the development and growth of the sport in the country. Their sustained success and achievements have earned them recognition and appreciation within the sporting community.

In terms of honors, Hasaacas Ladies F.C. has achieved remarkable success domestically and at the regional level. They have won the Ghana Women’s Premier League a record five times (2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, and 2020-21). They have also claimed the Ghana Women’s Special Competition title in 2019 and the Ghana Women’s FA Cup in 2021. In addition, they emerged as winners of the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU Zone B Qualifiers in 2021 and finished as runners-up in the CAF Women’s Champions League in the same year.
Medeama Sporting Club emerged as champions in a highly competitive football league, highlighting their prowess and commitment to excellence.
Takoradi Technical University’s recognition of Medeama Sporting Club as the Sports Achievers of the Year celebrates their remarkable achievement and acknowledges their significant contribution to Ghanaian football.

The Sports Awards event acknowledges the accomplishments of athletes and teams while showcasing the Takoradi Technical University as a topnotch institution of higher learning that combines academic excellence with community and corporate engagement The event will bring together students, athletes, coaches, administrators, journalists, sports enthusiasts and corporate community, fostering a sense of public camaraderie.
Takoradi Technical University is a registered member of the Ghana Football Association, with TTU Stars which played in the last division two in the western region.
The University is also the 2023 champions of the Ghana Technical University Association Sports Festival held in Tamale.
