Takoradi Technical University (TTU) has been crowned winners of the first ever National Energy Quiz for universities.
The competition was organized by the African Global Response Energy Environment, AGREE, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and opened to all public, private and technical universities in Ghana.[ads2]
With questions covering areas including Oil and Gas, Power, Nuclear and Community Relations, the 5-member contestants representing TTU won the Preliminary stage with 260 points followed by Ho Technical University with 135 points and Christian Services University from Kumasi coming in third with 125 points.
Motivated by their performance in the preliminary stage, the TTU contestants made up of Kwesi Akwaful, Collins Dzekle, Francis Martey, Lordina Nunoo and Aaron Erskine Yamoah went into the Final competition against three other Public Universities and came out winners with a score of 320 points.[ads3]
This was followed in the second position by the University of Energy and Natural Resources, UENR, with 285 points, then Sunyani Technical University with 265 points and the last spot taken by Tamale Technical University with 215 points.[ads4]
The winning Takoradi Technical University team was led by a three-man coaches including Justine Atarah, Dr. Winfred Adjardjah and Justice John Owusu.
The organization of the first National Energy Quiz for Universities follows the CEOs and Vice Chancellors Energy Summit held from 23-25 November 2021 at Kempisky Hotel in Accra which was on the theme; Achieving SDG 7/13-Think Energy, Act Global, Start Local.
