The head of the Dar es Salaam Province, Paul Makonda has fulfilled his promise of gifting the winners of the 2019 edition of the annual MO Simba Awards.
The former district commissioner for Kinondoni is reported to have dashed the winners which includes Ghanaian combative midfielder James Agyekum Kotei, 1million each (Tanzanian shelling) equivalent to 435 US dollars with Makonda’s best friend and goalkeeper Aisha Manula pocketing 5million (Tanzanian shelling) equivalent to 2174 US dollars.
Haji Minara of the Information Unit of the Msimbadzi Reds was handed 3milion (Tanzania Shelling) for his immense contribution to the mobilization of fans to the stadium.
The MO Simba Awards is an initiative by the majority shareholder of Simba Sporting Club, Mohammed Dewji to appreciate players who performed extraordinary in a particular season.
The 2019 edition saw Meddie Kagere winning the overall best player of the season with James Kotei awarded the best midfielder, Aisha Manula was voted the best goalkeeper, John Raphael Bocco clinched the best striker accolade, Clatous Chama classy goal against Nkana FC was adjudged the best goal with Erasto Nyonilu winning the best defender.
Simba Sporting Club for the very first time reached the quarterfinals stage of the CAF Champions League and gallantly defended the Tanzania Premier League in the 2018/19 season.
