Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey has finally reacted about Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON. The Brighton and Hove Albion talismanic defender was surprised that the four time AFCON winners failed to live up to expectations.
The defender said that missing out on the continental showpiece was disappointing but he optimistically focused on the World Cup qualifiers. Speaking on Telecom Asia Sports about his disappointment he said,
“Of course, it’s not ideal for us. As a team, we always want to qualify for every major tournament and compete at the highest level. Missing out on AFCON is disappointing, but we have some big games coming up, so we have to look forward to that.
. We still have a lot to play for, and it’s crucial that we come together as a team, work hard, and ensure we are prepared for the challenges ahead.”
Lamptey was adjudged Man of The Match after beating Chelsea.
