Two armed robbers have attacked a bullion van in Tarkwa in the Western Region on Monday.
According to report, the bullion van was parked at Ransbert Supermarket located at Kawirikwano, a suburb in Tarkwa when the robbers attack the van and bolted with a sum of Gh¢107,214.70.[ads2]
The incident is aid to have occurred between the hours of 9:30am to 10:00am on Monday and was captured on CCTV camera.
The incidents is said to have been planned and well orchestrated by the two robbers.[ads3]
One of the robbers is said to have entered the supermarket, bought a drink and later made a phone call. All this while, the bullion van was parked at the premises of the supermarket waiting to convey the sales to the bank.
And as soon as the teller went outside with the money heading towards the van, the other armed man on motorbike fired a warning shot ostensibly to disperse customers and alert his other accomplice who was loitering in front of the supermarket with the drink in his hand[ads4]
He then pulled a gun at the teller (a female), snatched the money amidst firing, shot into the bullion van before joining the other on the waiting motorbike and sped off.
