John Mahama, the flagbearer of the leading opposition party National Democratic Congress (NDC) would be announcing his running mate in May this year, according to reports
Loads of names have emerged for the running mate role as the NDC vows to return to power in the 2020 General Elections.

Since the former President announced his decision to contest the 2020 General Elections, several names have popped up to mount the position of late Economist Amissah Arthur.
Eight names have popped up earlier on the list of the former President of Ghana but the three reportedly lead the mantle.
According to reports murmuring, three candidates lead the race for the vacant position with one of them likely to get the nod should John Mahama announced his running mate in May as being reported in the media.
The three names include Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, who is the eldest daughter of former President of Ghana Jerry John Rawlings.

The name of the Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korley Constituency has been emerged as one of the favorites for the position.
She became the legislator for the Klottey-Korley Constituency in December 7 , 2016 after beating incumbent Nii Armah Ashittey and Leeford Kpakpo Quarshie in the 2015 NDC Primaries. She is a graduate from the Royal College of Surgeons in London.

Another name for the position is Dr. Kwabena Duffour.
The former Finance Minister is among the names favorites for the running mate role for the NDC in the 2020 General Elections.
Dr. Kwabena Duffour also served as the governor of the Bank of Ghana and was named one of the four best Central Bank Governors in the World at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank meeting in 1999.

Last on the reported list is Cassiel Ato Forson who is a Member of Parliament for Ajumako Enyan-Esiam Constituency in the Central Region.
Ato Forson has become one of the favorites personalities for the position. He was a deputy Finance Minister in 2013.
Meanwhile, the sitting President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo who will be the flagbearer of the ruling party, New Patriotic Party (NPP) has named his current Vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has his running mate for the elections.
