1. It must be made clear to Ghanaians that this is a plot by the Minister of Finance to collapse NIB so that his infamous Development Bank Ghana (DBG) would have a meaning.
aside this reason, there is nothing else behind the so called acquisition of NIB by ADB.
2. Per the full year 2022 audited financials l, ADB Bank itself has a NEGATIVE EQUITY. how could a bank that has a negative Capital on its own be able to acquire another bank? This is impossible.
3. NIB has been around for 60years and supported industrial growth, especially road contractors so why is the Finance Minister bent on bringing it down to Legitimise his infamous Development Bank.
NIB s a national bank with coverage across the country supporting businesses and has over a thousand staff staff, so why replacing with a new DBG that has less than 50 staff if this is not for personal reasons?
4. After all attempts to collapse NIB failed, now it seems this is the final effort to achieve his personal objective.
The ongoing media releases on NIB shoot surprise anyone as its part of the minister’s strategy to prepare the public’s mind for what he intends to do.
Why has he quickly sent his relative Eno Ofori-Atta to ADB as the new Deputy Managing Director? Is it to receive the new capital to be managed by her whilst he collapses NIB?
if the World Bank is earmarking funds to support banks in Ghana, then why channel it for personal interest?
5. Consolidation of Bank. Ghanaians are witnesses to the formation of CBG from several banks which was done by the minister.
The 2022 audited financials of CBG shows that it made a loss of GHS2 billion and now running with a negative equity and insolvent. So why would the minister wants to consolidate banks again. CBG is just a shell bank so why create another one?
6. IMF. The minister is also trying to use the IMF angle as a basis for trying to consolidate ADB/NIB. the truth is, his intentions to replace NIB with DBG started before the IMF program was signed.
One should check the date when the minister officially launched his infamous Development Bank Ghana. It was just before IMF came to Ghana, and was this not carefully planned so IMF could not question it? Couldn’t the money that was pumped into the formation of DBG been used to support NIB and ADB separately?
Having quickly formed DBG, why won’t the minister hide under the cover of IMF and try to bring NIB down?
7. Ghanaians should wise-up and understand these issues, the NIB that has been around for 60years and supported industrial growth and has coverage across the country and with over a thousand staff supporting the country is better than the personalised and newly formed DBG that has no real purpose.
8. Ghanaians should support their own indigenous banks.
The financial support from the World Bank should be used to support NIB on its own.
ADB has a negative equity and thus has no capacity to acquire another institution. Any plan to capitalise ADB to acquire NIB would be a personal objective of the minister of finance.
Let’s support our own NIB that has been around for 60years!
