Takoradi Technical University, TTU, through its Faculty of Applied Sciences, has signed a 3-year Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with Amali Tech Ghana Ltd. to provide students who will be enrolled in the Faculty’s new programmes, Data Science and Actuarial Science, with practical and hands-on training.
Speaking at the MoU signing, the Pro Vice Chancellor of TTU, Prof. Victor Kweku Bondzie Micah, emphasized the benefits of such collaboration for both the students and the organization.
“We believe, as a University, that students learn better in the industry, even though we are professionals and trust ourselves. This exposure to real-life experiences in the industry is invaluable. Once we can get the industry to also engage with the students in the classroom, it’s beneficial for both the University and the students. It will also help promote your brand as an institution, that is helping the University advance knowledge. We are grateful for this opportunity and hope to see the benefits materialize in the near future,” he said.
Evangelist Prof. Anthony Joe Turkson, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, stressed on the importance of collaborating with Amali Tech Ghana in relation to the two new programmes.
“It is expected of every department to develop new and innovative programmes. With this in mind, the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Actuarial Science decided to introduce two new programmes: Data Science and Actuarial Science. To gain practical skills and knowledge in these fields, we need to collaborate with an industry partner that can provide the necessary training. Amali Tech Ghana Ltd. was an obvious choice because of their expertise in analytics and their use of modern technology in everything they do. That is why we have entered into an MoU with them,” he explained.
Head of Training for Amali Tech Ghana Ltd., Salami Suleiman, expressed their commitment to ensuring productive engagement with the students and providing them with the essential skills needed in the industry.
“We are happy to continue this collaboration and are committed to working deliberately to achieve meaningful results. We are located right here on campus, so there is no distance that could cause friction. We are confident that we can make this partnership successful. As an institution, we are always looking for talent, and we are excited to help train these students, making them employable at the end of their studies. This is a key focus for us, and we are eager to collaborate and make progress,” he said.
