The Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (TUTAG) have declared to embark on a nationwide strike starting from Monday, June 14, 2021.
According to the group, this has become necessary because the government has failed to give teachers a new conditions of service hence the decision to go on strike as a sign of expressing their grievances.
In a statement, TUTAG is saying that
though the government has agreed for its members to enjoy same conditions just like the traditional universities, the decision is yet to be implemented.
The statement reads, “The conditions of service for TUTAG members expired since 2006. We have since been engaging the government to get us a new conditions of service to no avail”
“Though the government has agreed in writing that we are to enjoy the same conditions of service comparable to the traditional universities, that is yet to be implemented. 2018/2019 research arrears due TUTAG members has since been pending”
