Inhabitants of the Upper East region have had their share of the GNPC Foundation’s 100 boreholes water projects across the country.
The Foundation led by its Executive Director, Dr. Dominic Kwesi Eduah on Thursday, May 23, 2019, commissioned a ten boreholes with pumps in the capital of the Upper East region, Bawku.
Out of the 100 boreholes water projects, the Upper East and Upper West regions alone were handed 10 each with the Northern region given 40, Western region had 20 with the remaining 20 sited in the Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and the Central regions.
The project forms part of the Foundation’s corporate social responsibility and it’s aimed at providing portable water to deprived communities in the country that lack access to safe drinking water.
Speaking during the commissioning exercise at the Naa Gbewa Primary School in Bawku, the executive director of the Foundation, Dr. Dominic Kwesi Eduah expressed his delight at the opportunity to hand over to the region, a share of the Ghana’s oil revenue as the GNPC Foundation seeks to support Ghanaian communities in need of amenities as basic as water.
Dr. Eduah noted that, the GNPC Foundation will continue to play its part in contributing to nation building. He however, challenged other organizations to take seriously their CSR models to ensure lives and communities are positively affected.
Hon. Hajia Hawa Ninahema who happens to be the MCE for Bawku, reading a speech on behalf of the regional minister, lauded the GNPC Foundation’s complimentary efforts in supporting government’s agenda to provide basic amenities to Ghanaians.
In attendance was the Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation, Dr. Dominic Eduah (PhD), Hon. Hajia Hawa Ninahema, MCE for Bawku and Alhaji M. Issahaku, the Municipal Chief Director among other community leaders.
