Former Asante Kotoko Chairman, Herbert Mensah has reacted to the offensive sermon by the founder and leader of Lighthouse Chapel International Bishop Dag Heward-Mills on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The renowned Man of God has been making the headlines for the past two days after a video of him chastising Otumfuo in a sermon popped up online.
Bishop Dag Heward-Mills was preaching at a conference with his church elders where he chastised Otumfuo for not impacting positively on Asanteman since his enstoolment.[ads4]
But the video has been circulating on various social media platforms with many condemning the act of the leader of the Lighthouse Chapel.
Adding his voice, Mr. Herbert Mensah believes the content was unfortunate and misleading and could be leaked by some close associates of Dag Heward-Mills.
According to Mr. Mensah who is regarded as one of finest sports administrators in the country, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills misled his elders when he said the overlord of the Asante Kingdom has not positively impacted his subjects.[ads1]
He stressed that “Otumfuo’s seat is greater than what many people realised and he is not only a King but a spiritual leader who has done a lot for Asanteman without taking the glory.”
Meanwhile, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills has apologized to Otumfuo, stating that he made the sermon two decades ago but the video has been leaked by some people who are against the growth of his church.
He however highlighted on the achievements made by Otumfuo by saying “indeed, the accomplishments of his Majesty Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II are evident and manifest for all to see.
“His Majesty Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, who is also the Chancellor of KNUST and supporter of education, has helped develop the infrastructure of 788 schools; built 40 complete 6 Unit classroom blocks, and donated over 1 million desks,” Bishop Dag wrote in a statement issued to Otumfuo.[ads3]
He added, “In this and ways too numerous to mention, His Majesty Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II has positively affected many sectors of society, reaching far beyond the borders of Ghana.”
