The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi on June 16, 2022, together with technical team from the authority visited the Tarkwa T&A Stadium being constructed with the support of Gold Fields Ghana Foundation.
The over 10,000 capacity studium currently has all concrete works, roofing and drainage systems have been completed; construction of the FIFA-standard pitch is also progressing smoothly.
Speaking to the media after the inspection, Professor Twumasi disclosed that the Project Manager and the Contractor have assured that the construction will be completed by the end of this year.
It would be recalled that earlier this year, Goldfields Company entered into agreement with National Sports Authority in which the authority will to be responsible for day-to-day operation and management of the facility after the stadium construction.
This means that NSA is to station its officers in Tarkwa to manage the facility for sports development and promotion in the area for the benefit of the inhabitants.
Professor Twumasi was excited with the works ongoing at the stadium which will serve as home venue for Ghana Premier League outfit Medeama Sporting Club when completed.
Present for the project inspection were MCE for the areas, Hon. Benjamin Kessie and his his Coordinating Director, Mr Frank Ernest Oduro and the NSA Western Regional Director, Mr Joseph Alabi Bortey.
Others were Roger Adama, project manager, Gold Fields Ghana, Abdallah Kofi, Ag. Municipal Sports Director, and Adolf Ladzi, NSA Regional Administrator.
