The Works and Housing Minister, Francis Asenso-Boakye has visited communities affected by tidal waves in the Ketu South District in the Volta Region.
The minister alongside a team of experts from the ministry visited the three affected communities namely Agavedzi, Salakope, and Amutsinu on Thursday, June 17, 2021.
These communities have been affected by the tidal waves along the coastal stretch, a situation that has resulted in beach erosion, loss of land, property and sometimes flooding in the event of wave overtopping
The erosion of the beaches also impacts negatively on fishing, which is the main source of livelihood for communities along this coastal stretch.[ads4]
It would be recalled, the government completed a coastal protection works in 2019 from Blekusu and is now working towards Agavedzi, Salakope, and Amutsinu under the Blekusu Coastal Protection Project.
Mr. Asenso-Boakye during the visit gave an assurance that government remains committed to finding a lasting solution with the implementation of phase two of the project.
