Residents of Adiembra and Sekondi in the Western Region woke up to a sounding news as Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer has secured deals to construct artificial turfs at the towns.
The artificial turfs fully financed by GNPC Foundation and Ghana Gas are expected to be completed within the next six months.

The people of Adiembra will now have their community park upgraded and transformed to an ultramodern astro turf by GNPC Foundation who have already completed same project at Effiekuma in Takoradi.
The Member of Parliament for Sekondi Constituency, Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer alongside the Executive Director of GNPC Foundation cut sod on Friday for the construction of the ultramodern artificial turf in Adiembra.
Same exercise was done on Friday at the famous Sekondi Methodist Park which is being funded by Ghana Gas.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Executive Director of GNPC Foundation, Dr. Dominic Eduah noted that, his outfit believes in investing in projects that will impact the lives and same projects will be carried out in any community that seek their support.
He mentioned that, the artificial pitch will boast of a floodlights, very fenced to ensure safety among others.
The Municipal Chief Executive of Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis Hon. Anthony KK Sam indicated that, works will begin on the pitch in the coming days as all necessary arrangements have been made.
He admonished the youths in the various communities to ensure the pitches are maintained.
Hon. Egyapa Mercer expressed his profound gratitude to both GNPC Foundation and Ghana Gas for accepting to help develop football in the Western Region by constructing artificial pitches for the two communities.
The pitches being constructed by W360 Company Limited (Adiembra) and Wembley Sports Construction Limited (Sekondi) will boast of football park, panelmesh fencing, washrooms, floodlights, goal post/ reserve stands, spectators stands and changing rooms.
In attendance was the MCE of Sekondi-Takoradi Hon. Anthony KK Sam, Executive Director of GNPC Foundation Dr. Dominic Eduah, Member of Parliament for Sekondi Constituency Hon Andrew Egyapa Mercer, Western Region Football Association Chairman Simon Ehomah, staff from Ghana Gas, Chiefs and elders of the Communities, past and present assembly members among other dignitaries.
