The GNPC Foundation as part of it’s social and corporate responsibilities has commissioned a well mechanized borehole water system in Mpatado, Takoradi.
The project which is aimed at making portable water supply to over 1,000 residents in the community was commissioned by the the Deputy Manager of GNPC Foundation’s Sustainability Department, Patience Lartey.
The residents of the town who have been facing challenges in portal water supply could not hide their excitement during and after the ceremony.
The Foundation’s 100 borehole project across the length and breath of the country is aimed at improving the livelihoods and WASH facilities of some communities in the country with a direct benefit
She noted that the Foundation was targeting the three regions of the North and other regions where access to quality water was a hurdle.
“Recently we organised health screening in some communities in the Western Region and realised that some waterborne diseases were on the increase, hence, the decision by the Foundation to provide potable water for the deprived communities,” she added.
Nana Godzie Tsia IV, the cheif of Mpatado who joined for the commissioning of the borehole expressed his profound gratitude to the leadership of the GNPC Foundation and appealed for more projects in the community.
