Wales coach Ryan Giggs is raiding Manchester United to boost his new backroom staff.
The Sun says Giggs has approached close pal Tony Strudwick to become his head of performance after Dr Ryland Morgans was told yesterday by the Welsh FA he is surplus to requirements.
Englishman Strudwick, 43, was part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s backroom staff before he was moved to the United academy under Louis van Gaal in 2014.
Morgans, who had been with Wales since 2010, was a vital part of the team’s success under Chris Coleman which saw them reach the Euro 2016 semi-finals.
His relationship with Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey proved key as the Dragons had their best players fully fit and available for the tournament in France.
And the departure of Morgans, who was on a game-to-game contract and is Performance Director at Everton, could raise eyebrows among the current Wales squad as Giggs aim to stamp his authority on his new post.
