Black Stars Captain Andre Dede Ayew has made a return to the Black Stars after making the list of players for the World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros.
Andre Ayew last played for the Black Stars in June 2023 in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar and was consequently left out of Ghana’s squad for the matches against the Central African Republic, Liberia, Mexico and the USA.
Although the Captain is without a club he has been named by Chris Hughton to lead the Black Stars in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The 33 year old midfielder left Nottingham Forest after his contract expired last July and could not sign with any other team till date.
Although Ayew’s current limitations in terms of form are known to Chris Hughton, sources close to the team claim the captain is essential to the manager’s intentions for a cultural revolution, transmission and socialization within the Black Stars.
Should Dede Ayew impress in the qualifiers he is likely to make the Black Stars squad for the 2023 African Cup of Nation in Cote D’Ivoire.
The Black Stars’ World Cup qualifying games will be played on November 17 against Madagascar in Kumasi November 21 against Comoros.
