The Deputy Accra representative for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Nana Kwame Dankwah says the team didn’t take their chances which resulted in their painful defeat against Zesco United.
The Porcupines suffered a horrific 2:1 defeat to the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium lads at Ndola yesterday in the last group game of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Speaking after the defeat to Zesco United, Nana Kwame Danquah believes the team lost in Zambia yesterday due to hard luck and also failed to utilize their chances even after getting the opener through in the early minutes of the second half through Stephen Nyarko.
” We lost the game due to hard luck and also failed to take our chances”, he grieved on Oyerepa FM.
Nana Kwame Dankwah, however, disclosed that, the playing body of the Porcupines would have received a qualification bonus of $5100 each and $10000 each for shopping should they have beaten Zesco United yesterday at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
” We didn’t owe them,every player would have received $5100 each as qualification bonus.
” Dr Kwame Kyei met the playing body at lunch to tell them the likes of David Serebou, George Afriyie and his brother had promised the team $10000 which was not part of their winning bonus just for shopping. Their per diems was $500 each.
Asante Kotoko had their dreams of qualifying for the quarter-finals stage of the CAF Confederation Cup come to abrupt end after the painful defeat at Ndola. The team bowed out of the competition, sitting on the third position of the group C table with seven points.
