Abdul Rahim Bashiru, Head Coach of Hearts of Oak, has blamed their loss to Asante Kotoko over the weekend on a lack of attention and concentration, particularly after leading.
The ‘Phobians’ lost a heartbreaking 2-3 to their enduring opponents Kotoko in the GPL fixture on match day 14 at Baba Yara Stadium after giving up a goal advantage.
Prior to halftime, Isaac Oppong leveled the score after Linda Mtange had opened the scoring account for the host.
Steven Mukwala scored a brace for Kotoko to give them a two-goal lead with before Martin Karikari came off the bench to cut the gap making the final scoreline 3-2.
Abdul Rahim Bashiru claimed in an post match interview that although they had a strong start and led, they ultimately lost the match due to a lack of focus.
“We took the lead, and we lost concentration for Asante Kotoko to equalize. In this kind of game, you need physical and mental toughness to win.We lost the game because we lost concentration and focus. It was a game that we had to relax and enjoy, but I don’t know. What I saw was a lack of concentration after scoring the first goal, which is why they punished us.”he explained.
With 16 points from 14 games, Hearts Of Oak are ninth on the Ghana Premier League table.
