Ghanaian Chef Smith’s declaration that he has broken the record for the longest cooking marathon has drawn a lot of criticism.
Guinness World Records have revealed in an official statement that it never received an application from Chef Smith on the effort to break the record.
Chef Smith announced his record-breaking achievement at a press conference held at the La Palm Beach Hotel on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. GWR, however, stated that it is not aware of any application or attempt of that kind from the Ghanaian chef.
The information was corrected by Guinness World Records Limited’s PR manager, Madalyn Bielfeld. “He did not submit an application for this effort to us.
She stated that Alan Fisher (Ireland) completed the longest cooking marathon (individual) at Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from September 28 to October 3, 2023, clocking in at 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds.
In response to a query concerning possible legal action taken against Chef Smith, Bielfeld said, “We cannot comment on this at this time.” The circumstances are still unclear, and it doesn’t seem like the official record-keeping authority has confirmed Chef Smith’s claim to the Cook-a-thon title.
