The National Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has said the party will head to court after auditing all their pink sheets.
The NDC have refused to accept defeat after losing the 2020 elections to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).[ads2]
The NPP won the presidential election with the sitting President Nana Akufo-Addo retaining the seat for the next four years after pulling 6,730,587 votes representing 51.3% as against his competitor and flagbearer of the NDC John Dramani Mahama’s 6,213,182 votes.[ads3]
The NPP, according to the Electoral Commission, won majority of the Parliamentary seats 138 as against the NDC’s 136.
But the NDC believe the results were rigged by the Electoral Commission in favor of the ruling NPP and have threatened to use every legitimate means to challenge the decision.[ads4]
Speaking at a press conference, Sammy Gyamfi stated that the NDC have several options to challenge the decision but the party will take a decision of going to court once they are done with their auditing.
“There are so many options available to the party and the leadership of the party will take a decision on going to court after the current audit going on,” Mr Gyamfi said at a press conference in Accra yesterday.
“We have absolutely every right to embark on these protests without prejudice to the other options available to us as a party,” he added..[ads5]
