The Member of Parliament for Yilo Krobo, Albert Nyarkotey has said the minority stance on the controversial E-levy policy remain the same.
According to the legislator, the minority will keep resisting the passage of the bill. This comes following the government’s effort to resubmit the levy before parliament for approval after a conclusion of extensive consultations.[ads2]
Also, the government has scheduled to begin public sensitization on the controversial bill starting from Thursday.
“I have prepared for the next sitting. I have a lot of questions and will continue to do so. Most of the questions will benefit my constituency. As a caucus, we are ready and whatever we have to do to reduce the suffering of Ghanaians, we will do”, Mr. Nyarkotey told Citi News.[ads3]
“I am passionate about e-levy because I believe it is the poorer section of the society who will suffer more when it is approved, so we have to fight it. We are opposed to e-levy, we will not let it happen”, he added.
Parliament failed to pass the bill in December last year after a fight broke out among the parliamentarians during the final voting, adjourning the sitting to January 25, 2022.[ads5]
