Organizers of Western Music Awards, Westline Entertainment in a colorful ceremony today has launched the 2019 RTC Western Music Awards.
This year’s which is the third edition since its inception in 2017 has 26 categories instead of the initial 23 grouped into two; the general and industry categories.
The general categories include: Artiste(s) of the Year, Hiplife Artiste(s) of the Year, Hip Hop Artiste(s) of the Year, Highlife Artiste(s) of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall Artiste(s) of the Year, Gospel Artiste(s) of the Year, New Artiste of the Year, Best Collaboration of the year, Hiplife Song of the Year, Highlife song of the Year, Hip Hop Song of the Year, Gospel Song of the year, Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year, Best Group of the Year, Best Rapper of the Year, Most popular Ghanaian Song of the Year, Most Popular Regional Song of the Year,
Technical/Industry Categories include: Best Female Artiste of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Music Producer of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Best Radio DJ of the Year and Best Entertainment Show of the Year.
The Board have also added Urban Gospel Song of the Year, Afropop Song of the Year and Brass Band of the Year to the categories.
This year’s has been scheduled to come off on Saturday May 11, 2019 at the Plush Best Western Plus Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi with potential nominees entreats to download the forms from the Western Music Awards Google app on play store.
The year under review according to the Public Relations Officer for Westline Entertainment, Nana Kwesi Coomson is 2018 and starts from 2nd February to December 31, 2018.
He however noted that OCshowbiz Review, an entertainment show aired at Skyy Power FM has withdrawn from the Best Entertainment Show of the Year category.
Mr. Osei Bediako, the Board Chairman also stated that a seminar for the artistes and various stakeholders would be held before the deal day.
He added that criteria for selecting winners of various categories will be 40 percent from the public through voting and 60 percent from the Board but categories like Most Popular Song of the Year would be determined solely by the public.
This year’s is under the tagline ” the best comes from the West”.
