The Ghana Police Service has reacted to attack on its officials by demonstrators of Arise Ghana protest.
The demonstration which begun peacefully turned to a very chaotic scene at the Kwame Nkrumah interchange when the demonstrators started to pelt stones on the police officers.
Some of the officers were injured as a result of the scene while teargas was all over the place to deter the demonstrators.
In a statement, the Police described the attacks on them as unacceptable and must be condemned.
“What a shame, we were there to protect you and ensure your safety, but you throw stones at us, injure and hurt us.
“This behaviour is unacceptable and must be condemned.”
The two-day demonstration which started today, June 28 2022 was to protest against the persistent and astronomical hikes in fuel prices, the introduction of E-levy among others.
