Mr. Logic, also known as Emmanuel Barnes, is a Hitz FM pundit and artist manager. He has voiced concerns about Kumawood actor Lil Win’s decision to include a few actors from Nigeria in his upcoming film, “A Country Called Ghana.”
Logic questioned the logic in an interview on Daybreak Hitz regarding the use of Nigerian actors in a project honoring Ghanaian patriotism.
He expressed concern that the film’s authenticity would be undermined and that Ghanaian performers would have fewer opportunities to be recognized globally.
“Bringing in Nigerian actors for a movie titled ‘A Country Called Ghana’ raises eyebrows. Mr. Logic said, “We need to highlight the essence of Ghanaian storytelling and showcase our talent.”
Mr. Logic emphasized the importance of supporting the regional film industry, despite the benefits of collaborating with Nigerian actors for a broader market appeal.
“Ghanaian actors and stories that connect with our people should be our top priorities,” he declared. It is about advancing our own, he stated.
Mr. Logic pointed out that the use of well-known Nigerian actors raised concerns about potential cultural misrepresentation. Mr Logic said,
When we put profit before sincerity, we run the risk of losing our distinctive cultural identity. We have talented actors like Van Vicker who could lead such projects. “Let us put our money into our own and highlight the wide range of Ghanaian cinema.”
Lil Win retorted that the cast of Nigerian actors is what gives the film its widespread appeal.
