The Ghana Football Association announced a suspension of all football activities on March 15, 2020 and has since not been able to revert to active season.
The situation has rendered the 2,400 players and others taking up administrative roles at these professional football clubs idle.
According to the former Aduana Stars, BA United and Techiman Eleven Wonders adminitrstor, clubs shouldn’t be the ones paying for the exercise because government of Ghana takes charge of other citizens getting testing.

He added that government should support clubs because football directly contribute enormously to the economy.
“Why should clubs pay for testing. I don’t get it. The “borgers” that were brought from abroad and given free accommodations and free meals, did they pay for their testing? Ghanaians that are tested so far, who pays for his/her testing? Why do we always cheapen ourselves like that?
“In terms of employment to the economy, football alone employs more than 4000 people. We pay taxes to clear our goods from the ports. We pay social security for our employees.

“We pay vat on matches played. Players that we transfer outside are helping the economy. We feed the various national teams with our players without talking anything from the government.
“So the government should support us financially to play the matches behind closed doors else the players would become rusty. We need to convince government with these factors stated above rather than thinking of payment to testing of our players and the other stakeholders.
The Women’s Premier League which is left with 7 more weeks to end the season has also been suspended due to the earlier directives from government of Ghana.
Takyi Arhin further argued that football should return because he’s gathering some of the players of the women’s league are already pregnant.

“Information reaching me indicates that more of our girls playing football are being pregnant. Juvenile diligence is on the ascendancy, crime rate is going up because leagues are not being played” – Takyi Arhin concluded.
