Black Stars newly appointed team captain, André Dede Ayew is of the view that, winning the AFCON 2019 is a huge task but very achievable.
Ghana after last winning the trophy in 1982, has tried on several occasions to lift the prestigious accolade for the fifth time but to no avail, losing their last final to the Ivory Coast in 2015.
But Ayew who has been appointed as the team captain, believes even though the mandate given to the team to win the tournament is a huge one, the team will try their possible best to return to Accra with the ultimate.
“It’s very difficult to win the AFCON 2019, a very huge task but we are ready as a team. We will go to Dubai for camping and I know winning the trophy will bring smiles on the faces of Ghanaians and with that we are ready to achieve our goal”, Ayew told the press after the Black Stars dinner with President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars will depart for the United Arab Emirates on Saturday, June 1, 2019 to begin a PRE-AFCON camping with a 29 man list. The team will engage South Africa and Namibia in friendlies before the squad will be prune down to 23 for the main tournament in Egypt.
