The Western Regional Minister, Dr. Kwabena Okyere-Darko on Monday, July 13, 2020 led a delegation to the Presidency to officially inform President Akufo-Addo the demise of Sekondi-Takoradi mayor Anthony KK Sam.
The visitation was to also inform the President the date for the final funeral rites [July 18, 2020] which will be held at the late mayor’s hometown Anomabo in the Central Region.

The delegation comprised the wife and children of the late Hon. Anthony K.K. Sam, Hon. Hajia Alima Mahama; Local Government and Rural Development Minister; Hon. Joe Ghartey; Railways Development Minister, Hon. Kojo Acquah; Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Chief Executive Officer and other distinguished personalities.
Because President Akufo-Addo is in a fourteen-day isolation, the delegation were received on behalf of the President by the Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.

Dr. Bawumia received the news and reiterated that himself and the President were shocked at the initial announcement of Hon. Sam’s death but they could only leave all to God because he knew best.
He pledged total support for the wife and the family of the late Mayor and also promised of a befitting burial ceremony and eulogised him for his selfless service to the nation and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Dr. Kwabena Okyere-Darko thanked the Vice President for the warm reception and reiterated a total support to the family during and after the final funeral rites of the late Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly mayor, Hon. Anthony KK Sam.
