One thousand athletes will be benefitting from the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) package according to the Ghana Olympic Committee President Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah.
According to him, they are only waiting for the package from the Ministry of Finance to support the selected athletes who have been affected by the Coronavirus outbreak.
In an interview with Dr. Kweku Ofosu-Asare on the ‘INQUEST’ show on GTV Sports Plus, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah urged the Ghanaian media to propagate the positives from the game and lower the negatives since no sponsor will want to associate with a negative brand.

“Sportsmen and women were very much affected during the lockdown and up till now.
“Sports Media should be responsible in promoting the sports brand than indulging in negative news.
“No positive sponsor will associate with a negative brand. So the media must turn their ways and work better. No one checks what uninformed young reporters say on the radio”, he advised.
He seized the opportunity to commend the Youth and Sports Ministry for initiating a package for the Ghanaian sporting youth who have been affected by the Coronavirus outbreak and also called for equal attention to the other sporting disciplines since he believes there is much dependence on football than the other Sporting disciplines.

On the postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah said, “Postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games may be unfortunate but could turn up to be a blessing for some nations that prepare late like Ghana.
“We can use the next 10 or 12 months to invest in our elite athletes who are medal hopefuls like our boxers, athletes, and weight lifters.”
