Most entrepreneurs in Ghana lost their businesses during the rise of the devastating coronavirus but as the country is gradually recovering from the pandemic, MTN has taken upon itself to empower these entrepreneurs by offering them literacy education to help grow their businesses.

“This is an event where staff come out for community activities. This year we decided to partner Duapa Workspace which is an IT hub in Takoradi and they’re to give literacy education to the youth especially those in business and those you are yet to enter into business.
“The idea is we are now recovering from covid and we see that many young guys have lost their jobs, so we decided to look at how we can partner Duapa Workspace to give educational literacy to those already in business and those yet to enter.”
He continued that, “We have given them education on how to use social media; for example other apps like MTN mobile app and others to better their businesses using Facebook and other stuffs to market their businesses.”
Mr. Ofosuhene indicated that among the participants were unemployed University graduates who are determined to start their own businesses.
“We know that many people have lost their jobs and we are trying to come out to help them come back to business. At the end of the day, we want them to come back to business and also be able to employ others.”
On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of Duapa Workspace, Erasmus Ackon threw more lights on the services his outfit offers and why the need for businesses to embrace themselves with mobile applications to help grow there businesses.
He said that, “Covid exposed some businesses and we decided to loot at digital tools that can help a company to grow and record-keeping was one of them. Manual systems are tedious when using to keep records because after doing all entries you have to waste time to do calculations, making mistakes, cancelling and correcting all that but there are a lot of mobile apps that can help in doing these works easily, you just have to put in the available entries and that’s what Duapa Workspace does.”
The Yello Care programme is a staff volunteer event where staff comes to the community for communal activities. This year the focus is on job creation so youth across board were invited, students, traders, unemployed and job seekers.
