Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah has begun a nationwide inspection of the 10 (ten) Youth and Sports Resource Centres that are at various stages of completion.
The Minister’s first stop were at Ho and Koforidua in the Volta and Eastern Regions respectively.
The Minister, earlier in the year cut sod for the construction of ten(10) multipurpose youth and sport centres of excellence in all the regions in the country in line with the manifesto of the Akufo-Addo led administration to provide centres of excellence to engage the youth in meaningful ventures.
The multi-purpose Youth Centres, when completed would be made of 5000 to 10000 seating capacity FIFA standard football pitch with an eight-lane tartan tracks, tennis courts, basketball courts, handball courts and other handball sports, gymnasiums, boxing arena at some of the centres, swimming pool, ICT Training centres, counselling centres, entrepreneurship centres and modern restaurants.
Though contractors experienced challenges notable amongst them the perennial rainfall in the regions, they were optimistic works should be completed and handed over to Government within their respective times of completion.
Having been impressed with progress of works at both sites, the Minister was optimistic the contractors and their team will continue to work hard to complete the project on time.
